Our Code of Conduct

The Official Stance on Nonsense

You’re coming to our events for a purpose: to learn new things and exchange ideas of your own, to meet new people and form lasting relationships, and to be a part of an exciting, new community. We recognize that our events are fun and social, but the focus is, and always will be, on the professional nature of the content. We want to be sure that you make the most of your time and investment. Thus, we’ve come up with this Code of Conduct to be a guiding commandment for our attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and staff.The Bureau of Digital is dedicated to providing an open, friendly, and comfortable event experience for everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. Any form of harassment is not, and never will be, tolerated. The bottom line is this: you’re attending a professional event, so we expect you to behave like a professional in person and in any online conversations about the event content or interactions. Listen to the talks, be a part of conversations, offer your perspective, and respect the space and people around you. Any event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled without a refund at the discretion of the Bureau of Digital.


Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the Bureau of Digital may take any action they deem appropriate, which may include expulsion from the event with no refund.We expect participants to follow these rules at event and workshop venues and event-related social gatherings.

If you are at an event and are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of Bureau of Digital staff immediately. They will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance and safety.
